Why is 7up SO much better than Sprite — yet I can never find it anywhere? Damn.

Been listening a lot to Tahiti 80 this week. Catchy, French pop. Reminds me a lot of Zumpano, and Eric Matthews plays trumpet on the record. See them live if you can.

If there’s one movie I’m looking forward to more this year, it’s Best in Show — the mockumentary about the dog show world. From the same people that brought you Spinal Tap and Waiting for Guffman (classic stuff). By the looks of the outtakes on the site, this one looks just as good.

This is very frightening. I don’t know what to think of it — if it’s true, than god help us, and if it’s not true then well bravo to a hoax pulled off with extreme detail!

Feels good to be centered. Wow, imagine being so fed up with someone, that you jump off a cruise ship and go home. Oh, and you’re also 73. [via the obscure store]

I made this site in 5 minutes. No, really…. umm, I did. Thanks to Mike for the link.

A little stroll down memory lane led me to the official Rubik’s site. I solved the Rubik’s cube once — by taking it apart with a hammer and putting it back together. This site is pretty entertaining, and the Java version is pretty cool. They even sell the old-school keychain version.

Saw this over at /. today — but certainly worth repeating. This insanely resourceful guy built himself a handheld Atari 2600, complete with an active TFT screen, built-in controls and best of all — classic wood grain trim. Damn, I want one.

Never have I seen a more ridiculous, yet entertaining show. BattleBots is insanely great. I’m thinking of entering — only I have no desire to build a robot.

My new favorite marketing slogan: “Iceland. Not just a big block of ice.”

I really need to learn Flash. Every time I see a cool site (that’s well done), I get motivated to start to learn it. This guy has a pretty nice interface, and best of all, he has some resources you can download and implement them on your own site. Titoonic looks cool too, especially the inconspicuous Tetris game built into the main page.

Is it just me, or is it getting harder to tell real news and the Onion apart?

A new domain name and a new hard drive. Wow, what a difference. So, I went ahead and grabbed a .tv domain. The people of Tuvalu deserve it. Actually, my excuse is that they just slashed the prices, and .com, .net, and .org are all taken. Getting your last name as a domain seems like a more permenant investment. I don’t think I’ll have to change my email address again. Oh yeah, if you’re hungry and feel like putting on a few pounds, TheSpark.com will pay you cash to gain 30.

I think we’re going to be seeing a lot more new cars on the road that look wacky. The New Beetle and the PT Cruiser were just the beginning. Check out this almost-a-pickup from VW. Pretty crazy looking, although the bed in the back looks big enough to fit maybe one bag of popcorn. Be prepared — it’s going to get all Jetsons out there.

Oh yeah, saw The Original Kings of Comedy last night. Very funny stuff. It’s really a concert film of one show in NC.

A MacOS X beta was finally released today. Although I don’t own a Mac at the moment (oh wait, I have a Classic II!), I’m really curious to see how it turned out. Is it the “future of computing”? Hrm. Meanwhile, there’s an interesting discussion over at BeNews regarding Tave’s decision to stop development on the BeOS equivilent to Photoshop — Imagination. From the screenshot, it looks pretty sweet. It’s a shame.

Sure, it’s everywhere, and Jar Jar is horrible, but I have this undeniable love for Star Wars. This animated rap though, is pretty hillarious. My favorite is Luke drinking a gin & tonic in the X-Wing fighter. Classic. Yoda raps as well as he speaks, too.

So, I’ve gone ahead and changed the format for the weblog to be a bit more narrative. It’s now powered by the wonderful Blogger. The little page icon will allow you to link to any post (assuming that they eventually become entertaining enough to do so). I’ve also taken off the webcam — it never really worked right anyway. For some reason, the longer it stayed on, the more static-y it would get. If I fix it, and find a view that is actually interesting, maybe I’ll put it back up. Politics continues to make me laugh. I’m definitely voting Rat this time around.
